Welcome B4BC to the South Bay at the Seaside Soiree, Hosted by Bo Bridges Gallery
B4BC Partners with South Bay Surf Brands for Official Kick-Off of Fifth Annual Spyder Surf Festival in Hermosa Beach on April 5
Redondo Beach, Calif. (March 21, 2012) – B4BC (Boarding for Breast Cancer) has partnered with Hermosa Beach‐based surf company Spyder Surf Shops for the Fifth Annual Surf Fest in celebration of their recent move to the South Bay and ongoing efforts to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. To kick off the weekend’s festivities, B4BC will host the Seaside Soiree on April 5th, alongside Bo Bridges Gallery, as a fundraising event for B4BC’s year-round breast cancer prevention and support programs.
A limited amount of tickets will be sold to the public on a first come, first serve basis at Eventbrite.com for $45.00. From 7-10 p.m. guests can mingle with athletes and industry influencers as well as bid on unique experience-based silent auction packages including Group Photography with Bo Bridges, Surfing with Big Wave Legend Brad Gerlach, Stand-up Paddleboard Yoga Workshops with B4BC Ambassadors and more. Fifteen percent of the evening’s total sales from the Bo Bridges collection will be donated to B4BC. There will also be a special musical performance by MK & the Gentleman, a hosted bar with light appetizers courtesy of Watermans, beer provided by Kona Brewing Company and wine provided by One Hope Wine. Local company VOX DJs will be spinning throughout the evening as well. Guests must be on the event list to attend.
Following the Soiree, a post-party will be held at Watermans and open to the public from 9 p.m. – Midnight where guests can view the new B4BC x NSP Surf Betty Surfboard line and B4BC-themed table and wall art, a new addition to the establishment. A signature B4BC pink drink will be offered, where $1 for every drink purchased will benefit B4BC programs.
“After 15 years, B4BC is thrilled to now call the South Bay our home,” said Erika Seward, executive director, B4BC. “This is such a wonderful community of active-minded people and businesses who not only come together to celebrate but also to create positive change. We look forward to collaborating with community leaders like Spyder, Bo Bridges, HavocTV and all of our neighbors in an effort to better the lives of girls and the people that love them.”
“We’re very excited for B4BC to be a big part of this year’s Spyder Surf Fest,” added Richard O’Reilly, managing partner, Spyder Surf. “It’s a very natural partnership as we have so many young surfer girls involved in helping coordinate and attending the events of the weekend. If we can have an impact on any of them that makes them consider their own health, and their cancer risk, than the Surf Fest will be that much more successful.”
On hosting the Seaside Soiree, Bo Bridges, owner, Bo Bridges Photography Inc. said, “I am excited to host B4BC’s Spyder Surf Fest Kick-Off Bash at Bo Bridges Gallery. Not only are we welcoming B4BC to their new home in the South Bay, but we are supporting their mission in encouraging the younger generation of women to live healthy and active lives. Cancer is personal for many of us, and it’s important to do what we can to help educate people to be healthy and active from a young age.”
On Saturday, April 7, B4BC’s Check One, Two educational outreach experience will be on-site at Surf Fest from Noon – 4 p.m., where Surf Fest enthusiasts can interact with peer health educators, learn about methods of early detection and prevention, and test their knowledge for a chance to win prizes. B4BC Team Riders, pro skateboarders and five-time X Games medalist Mimi Knoop, and fellow X Games competitor and El Segundo local Allysha Bergado will also be signing autographs from 2-3 p.m. and speaking about the importance of being healthy and active.
