Shred the Love
Shred the Love is a way of being – healthy, active, sustainable and aware. Since 1998, B4BC has been hosting grassroots events in partnership with local mountains as a platform to promote healthy, active, and sustainable living. In 2011, B4BC created the Shred the Love campaign to elevate awareness of our Winter Board-a-thon Series and encourage nationwide participation in the program through online and on-mountain activities. In 2012, the campaign received a nomination for the Most Creative Fundraiser by the Stay Classy Awards!
About Shred the Love
The goal of the Shred the Love campaign is to inspire and promote a healthy, active, and sustainable lifestyle as the best means for breast cancer prevention through outreach, partnership, and industry support during the Winter Season while raising money towards B4BC’s outreach and survivor programs. Originated by B4BC, friends everywhere are invited to join the crusade to stomp out breast cancer. Mountain resorts, winter enthusiasts and local communities host board-a-thons, rail jams, snow shoeing moonlight adventures, and any other on-snow activities you can think of! Those of the local community are encouraged to create online fundraising pages, turn their mountains pink through awareness merchandise, or just get out in shred in the name of prevention!
2016-2017 Shred the Love Series
Throughout the 2016-2017 series, B4BC made our way to different mountain resorts, including Big Bear Mountain Resort, Camelback Mountain Resort, Trollhaugen, Taos Ski Valley, Sugarbowl Resort, Mammoth Mountain Resort, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. Our “board-a-thons” expanded to include rail jams, banked slaloms, cross-country skiing, raffles, bands, DJs, live art, silent auctions, and much more. In total we were able to raise over $60,000, all of which supports our year-round educational outreach, prevention and young survivor retreats and support programs.
