Justin Sander is a Public Relations major at CSU Long Beach, and he reached out to Boarding for Breast Cancer to feature the organization as part of a service-learning requirement for his class and to help B4BC gain media coverage in his local networks. As an avid skateboarder, snowboarder, and surfer—and the grandchild of a breast cancer survivor—he had a strong interest in supporting B4BC. After getting more in the organization and learning more about the cause, he shared his thoughts in an op-ed for a school project that we would like to share below.

Soda is one of those things that is hard to avoid these days. Grocery stores, movie theaters, gas stations… it’s everywhere! As accessible as it is, we warn you: STAY AWAY. We know a sweet, bubbly treat can be nice on a hot day, but the impact soda has on your health is worth tossing this habit out of your life for good. If you’re like 48% of Americans, you gulp down at least one soda a day. For thousands of those people, that habit may be cutting their lives short.

Ladies, we know how it is! We always want our nails to be looking fresh so we layer on coat after coat of polish. But wait… many of us don’t realize how bad this can actually be for our health. As people are becoming more aware of the fact that what we put ON our body, we put IN our body, new products are being designed sans the nasty chemicals. This week we are in Vail, Coloardo for the Burton US Open of Snowboarding and we couldn’t be more stoked! We get to spend our week educating thousands of people how to live a healthy, active life and spend TONS of time outdoors living the snowboarding life.
