We think it’s safe to assume that we are all busy people. Whether it’s a job or school, a job and school, or anything else for that matter, we all get caught up running around and attempting to keep up with our everyday lives. It’s safe to say our healthy habits go out the window every once in awhile (we’re guilty too) and that is totally okay. However, if you can start your day and end your day in a healthy way, chances are you will feel a lot better about your mind, body, and soul. We’ve found 2 great tips that will make your AM and PM more productive for your health and can help you live a little bit healthier! Not only that, they are SUPER easy to follow!
EAT A PROTEIN-RICH BREAKFAST
We’re sure you’ve heard your parents tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and well… they’re right. Starting your day off with a hearty breakfast can pump you up for the day ahead and you can reap tons of benefits from chowing down on the right types of food. Our favorite? Elena Hight’s Baked Egg in Avocado! NOM! It’s packed with protein and avocado (while being absolutely delish) gives you a high dose of healthy fat to power you through your day. Now, what do you get from eating a good breakfast? (Besides enjoyment of course…)
Insulin and other hormone levels remain balanced
Mood improves
Better food choices are made for the rest of the day
Hunger and the urge to snack vanishes
Concentration levels remain high
Energy levels stabilize and do not fluctuate throughout the day
People who are looking to lose weight often do so without making any other conscious change
If you start your day off with a high-sugar unbalanced breakfast, which tends to be the norm these days, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Incorrect levels of sugars cause spikes in blood sugar which trigger other reactions throughout your body. None of which your body likes. By starting your day off with a balanced breakfast consisting of protein and fat rather than sugar and carbs, your body is set up for a day full of health and GREATNESS!
TURN OFF TECH ONE HOUR BEFORE BED
In today’s world we are bombarded with all kinds of tech, all day long. Whether it is for personal use or business, it’s rare to go a long period of time without a phone or computer somewhere near us. Although they serve many great purposes, these tech devices are also a direct impact on our stress and anxiety levels. There is no need to spend time worrying about who is saying what on what social media, and that email sitting in your inbox can wait until the morning. Being said….
TRY your best to switch of all your electronics an hour before you hit the hay (at least)! Instead of checking your Facebook news feed, read a few chapters in a new book, do some stretching, or spend some quality time with your family, friends, or pets. By hitting that off button on technology, you’re allowing your body to enter relaxation mode with a lot less stimuli and chances are you are getting a MUCH better night of sleep. Quality sleep is SO important and can have amazing impacts on your body like:
Improved weight management
Less sugar cravings
Increased energy
Lower blood pressure
Increased testosterone levels
Decreased tendency to overeat
Enhanced recovery from training
These tips may not seem like much and they really aren’t. We aren’t telling you to completely change up your daily routine or make any sort of drastic changes. Little alterations can go a long way and can help you live a more healthy life overall. So, fuel up in the AM and hit the off button at night to give your body a quick and effective health boost!
