Avocados: It was really only a matter of time before the ubiquitous superfood made its way into beauty cabinets everywhere. If you know us here at B4BC, you know we’re AVO OBSESSED and now we’ve got even more ways to incorporate our favorite superfood into our every day. The fruit’s oil is slowly gaining ground as a self-care staple and is the perfect swap for some of those toxic products that are often found in our beauty routines.
Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be. Avocados are packed with antioxidants,”good” fats, vitamins and essential fatty acids, and the oil is no different. Yes, our skin is a direct reflection of what we eat, so eating avocados is certainly a strong move for great skin and hair, but applying it topically can’t hurt either. We’ve got some easy swaps that you can make to reduce the amount of toxins you expose yourself to on a daily basis. We know it’s difficult, but if we have to start somewhere, avocado sure isn’t a bad place to begin!
HAIR TREATMENT: Coat your post-shower hair with avocado oil. It works beautifully as a split end treatment and seriously quenches the thirst of dry hair. Avocado oil can also help tame those pesky fly aways.
MOISTURIZER: Lather your legs in avocado oil and let it soak in for about 20 minutes. The perfect, non-toxic moisturizer for every day use.
SHAVING CREAM: Swap out your normal shaving cream for organic avocado oil. It provides a perfect layer between your skin and razor and leaves your legs extra moisturized and soft.
CUTICLE OIL: Apply it with a cotton swab or go all in and just dunk your fingertips in a small bowl of the stuff with wild abandon. It’s the key to perfect (HEALTHY) nails.
EYE CREAM: Dab a tiny bit under each eye before bed. When you woke up, the skin around your eyes will be plump, dewey and the fact that you tossed and turned for much of the night will be completely masked.
BODY SCRUB: There are tons of DIY body scrubs out there on the internet. Mix one of these babies up for an all natural body scrub that will exfoliate your skin and leave you feeling refreshed.
DARK SPOT TREATMENT: Since avocados are so packed with antioxidants, the oil can work as a scar or dark spot treatment. Rub it on the spot of concern twice a day to see it lighten over time.
