B4BC to Host Skate the Lake [Tahoe] Presented by GoPro on August 16th – 17th
28-Mile Longboard-a-thon Promotes Healthy, Active Lifestyle in Support of Breast Cancer Prevention
B4BC (Boarding for Breast Cancer) will host the 9th Annual Skate the Lake weekend, the second stop of B4BC’s Skate the States series, which raises funds for breast cancer prevention programs while promoting participation in board sports and a healthy, active lifestyle. The two-day event includes a kick-off and registration celebration, followed by Saturday’s Great Skate. Skate, bike or roller skate along a 28-mile portion of North Lake Tahoe, alongside participants of all ages and abilities!

Kick-Off Celebration Details: Friday, August 16, 2013
Join B4BC pro team riders, athletes, staff and friends as we celebrate the Tahoe community and those dedicated to skating for the cause. Sign up for Saturday’s Great Skate and enjoy the day’s festivities. There will be live music and art installations, along with food, beverages and opportunities to win sponsor prizes. The day kicks off with a B4BC Yoga Heals session lead by Yoga Studio Tahoe ($10 donations are suggested).
When: Friday, August 16, 2013 – Yoga at 9 a.m. with Kick-off Celebration from 12-9 p.m.

The Great Skate: Saturday, August 17, 2013
8 a.m. SHARP! Meet at 64 Acres for shuttle transportation to the start (Highway 89, just past the Dam Café)
8:30 – 2 p.m. Skate, bike or roller skate 28 miles throughout scenic Lake Tahoe
Three Hydration Stations powered by Clif Bar along the way
2 – 4:30 p.m. Awards ceremony at Heritage Plaza in Tahoe City (590 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, Calif.)
How to Participate:
Fundraise a minimum of $50 to participate – includes sponsor goodie bag, event t-shirt and raffle tickets. The top three fundraisers will be recognized and awarded prize packs, with the top two fundraisers being eligible for a GoPro Hero 3. Please note: All participants are required to sign waivers. If you are under 18, you must have signatures from a parent or legal guardian and MUST wear a helmet.
