This past weekend thousands of surf fans flocked to Oceanside Pier for the Ford Supergirl Pro—the largest all-women’s surf contest in the world, which also boasts the only ASP 6-star competition in North America for the ladies.
A runner-up 3 x in the Supergirl Series, B4BC team rider Malia Manuel, out surfed New Zealand’s Paige Hareb in an inspiring performance to take home the win and the esteemed Supergirl pink cape!
Our educational outreach booth has been a cause-partner of the Supergirl actionista surf, skate, and snow events since its inception back in 2007. We’re honored to be able to contribute to these empowering events for young women, which embody our message of living an active healthy lifestyle!
Over the weekend we had several breast cancer survivors, under the age of 30, who stopped by our booth to tell us how much they believe in our mission. Early detection saved their lives and they were grateful that we were there to give young women a hands-on experience for self-checks and feeling what a cancerous lump might feel like with our educational jelly breast molds.
In addition to our booth the festival featured a female-focused sponsor village that included live music, art, free yoga & Zumba classes, hairstyling by Paul Mitchell, and so much more. Our friends from Surfrider were there as well to educate people about the importance of protecting our oceans and beaches.
Thank you to Warner Bros. and ASA Entertainment for the opportunity to be onsite and for your continued support of our mission.
