B4BC was founded by two of the most well respected pioneers in snowboarding, Tina Basich and Shannon Dunn. These ladies have inspired thousands of young women around the world to follow their dreams and make them realities. Not only have they inspired girls to ride, but Tina and Shannon have also played an invaluable role in inspiring girls to take control of their own health. Over the years, athletes from snow, surf and skate have continually supported B4BC’s efforts. Being surrounded by such great encouragement year after year, we are proud to announce the B4BC Team Rider Program, which will encompass amazing athletes who continue to stand by our educational outreach efforts.
The rad group of ladies who are passionate about helping B4BC make greater strides towards educating and empowering young women are:
Tara Dakides, Hannah Teter, Barrett Christy, Hana Beaman, Elena Hight, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins, Holly Lyons, Lauren Perkins, Mimi Knoop, Mary Osborne, and Claire Bevilacqua.
All of our accomplished ladies will have featured profiles on the new B4BC.org in the coming weeks and we look forward to keeping you posted as we continue to build our team of inspiring gals. But in the meantime here are a few words from some of our riders on what it means to them to stand by B4BC’s mission…
“Im proud to be part of the something that spreads a powerful message about saving lives. Every time there is a B4BC tent standing, people are being educated on the best subject to be educated about, your body. For every time B4BC is on display means one life could be potentially saved. That’s a big
deal.”
-Tara Dakides
“To me, it means helping women that I know and some I never will know. It’s about letting them know they aren’t alone, that there are people, a lot of people in fact, who care about them.”
– Hana Beaman
“As a female athlete, it is an honor to be on the Boarding For Breast Cancer team. I love to inspire, empower, and educate others in the benefits of having a healthy and active lifestyle. I also like to help guys and girls realize we are all here together on this planet, and how important it is for us to help each other think positively, feel well, be active, and live a successful life. Boarding For Breast Cancer makes it fun to get educated on Breast Cancer awareness and prevention, and I think it is the best way to be educated about anything in life – learn, raise your awareness, your consciousness, and always have fun!”
-Holly Lyons
“Boarding for Breast Cancer is an empowering organization to be apart of. We are all at risk or know someone who has had breast cancer in our lifetime. It is important we become aware of our bodies and inform those around us about breast cancer. B4BC teaches, inspires and supports women. It is an organization where woman can share stories, laugh, cry, make memories and learn how to live a healthy active lifestyle.”
-Mary Osborne
