For many years I had to deal with constipation, food allergies and sensitivities, and it took me quite awhile, and a lot of personal research and perseverance to figure out what works best for me.

CANCER FIGHTING FOODS // 2016 Dirty Dozen & Clean Fifteen

It’s no secret that buying organic is a great decision, if you can afford it. There is little downside to keeping the pesticides and herbicides used to produce your foods to a minimum. However, it’s also no secret that buying organic is expensive. For some, especially people with families, it can be overwhelming to foot the bill of an all-organic grocery run. Is it worth the investment? We’d argue yes, but still, some people just don’t have the money to invest, and there is nothing wrong with that.

A Look Inside the 2015 Chasing Sunshine Project: Ocean Retreat

With over 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the US alone, B4BC recognizes the importance of supporting our growing survivor community. In 2009, the B4BC Survivorship Fund was established to connect breast cancer survivors with nature-based wellness experiences that enhance their path of healing and long-term survivorship. This past fall we granted (10) breast cancer survivors the opportunity to attend our Chasing Sunshine Project: Ocean Retreat hosted by B4BC wellness ambassador, pro-snowboarder, survivor–Megan Pischke. The weekend focused on reconnecting with the natural world and ourselves through meditation, surfing, yoga, clean organic eating, and inclusive health discussions devoted to removing obstacles so that we may move forward, continue to heal, and achieve balance in our lives.

CANCER FIGHTING FOODS // A tiny superfood for breast cancer prevention

Native to the Himalayas, Lycium barbarum, also known as the goji berry or the wolfberry, has been used for centuries, and is categorized as a potent super tonic herb in traditional Chinese medicine. Goji berries are fast growing and can thrive in a variety of climates. They are a true superfood, and contain almost 13% protein, making them one of the most protein-rich and nutritionally dense fruits. Just one cup contains 12 grams of protein! In addition they’re full of antioxidants and phytochemicals, helping to reverse free-radical damage and making them an excellent cancer-fighting food.

IT’S PERSONAL // Samantha Kuhr

It’s personal for B4BC friend and supporter Samantha Kuhr. Unfortunately, Sam was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, but we were so happy to have her join us for our Chasing Sunshine Project Ocean Retreat in Encinitas, California this past Fall. After her experience with B4BC, Sam connected us with her friend and employer Erin Condren (you may recognize that name). Erin Condren is not only an amazing woman herself, but runs an awesome company of the same name that produces the cutest planners, stationary, notecards, etc. We were so stoked to hear that Erin Condren wanted to create a product benefitting B4BC.
