Sweet, sweet summer time! With warming temps and more time spent outside and on the go, smoothies are the perfect opportunity to combine your fruits and veggies into a delicious drink to enjoy on the run. Enjoy this smoothie recipe for an early morning breakfast or after a big hike with friends; it’s the summer tropical bomb!
Produces 3 servings
1 small papaya, cut into chunks
1 cup coconut yogurt (or full fat coconut milk)
1 c fresh (or frozen) pineapple chunks
1 banana (or 1 avocado)
Large handful of fresh clean spinach
1/2 teaspoon of grated ginger
1 teaspoon of cacao nibs
2 heaping teaspoons of Four Sigmatic’s “Smoothie Shroomer with Turkey tail”
1 1/2 cups coconut water or plain water
Notice that this recipe doesn’t call for any ice. Ice can be too cold for your body to digest if you have a weakened or challenged digestive system. However, if you have the digestive fire, then by all means feel free to throw in some ice and cool that baby down! The ginger also definitely adds some digestive fire, so this smoothie can be enjoyed at room temperature or iced up.
The Four Sigmatic’s Smoothie Shroomer with Turkey Tail used includes Turkey Tail Mushrooms, a naturally cancer fighting, immune boosting power food as well as tumeric, which is anti-inflammatory. The cacao nibs are another awesome super food, and have many healing benefits like fiber (keeping you regular), controlling glucose in your blood, adds to weight loss, and also boots your energy! Kind of like chocolate chips min your smoothie, but not as sweet.
We prefer these fruits in season, and always organic.
