This quick and easy two-ingredient snack is the perfect mix of salty and sweet! Munch on it as a road trip snack, a mid-day energy boost, or even wrap it up and give it as a gift—this treat will not disappoint! The antioxidant-rich dark chocolate combined with your favorite trail mix makes this a protein packed superfood snack for anytime of the day.
Whoever told you chocolate is a bad thing was sadly mistaken! Dark chocolate acts as the base ingredient in this bite and that is most definitely not a bad thing. Dark chocolate is packed with health benefits that many people don’t realize. When consumed over time, dark chocolate can reduce stress levels and even boost blood flow to parts of your brain. But possibly the best news yet, cacao beans are rich in antioxidant compounds called flavonoids that are also found in fruits and veggies. It appears that your body treats flavonoids like foreign compounds, and tries to get rid of them. However, in the process, it produces enzymes that also fight mutagens and carcinogens, thereby boosting its defenses against cancer.
Even though you don’t need dark chocolate to get the cancer-fighting powers of flavonoids, a sweet treat every once and awhile is definitely not a bad idea! These energy bites will make you and your taste buds happy, giving you a quick boost of energy. Not only that, they only take 5-10 minutes to make, so you have no excuse to not enjoy these DELISH, grab-n-go snacks!
