SKATE THE LAKE 2016 RAISES OVER $23K

What an amazing weekend it was at B4BC’s 12th annual Skate the Lake 28-mile longboard-a-thon in Lake Tahoe! Last weekend was an HUGE success, with almost 70 skaters raising over $23K for Boarding for Breast Cancer’s education, prevention and support programs! We had an awesome weekend filled with tons of fun and an overwhelming amount of love and support from the Tahoe community.

SKATE SERIES SPOTLIGHT: 12-year-old Katie Lyssand

12-year-old Katie Lyssand was not only our top fundraiser at B4BC’s Skate The Lake 2015, but she also was the youngest girl to skate the entire 28 miles. Katie skates for her family who has a long history of women’s cancers. She spent two months collecting donations not only from family and friends, but also going door-to-door to businesses around her community explaining her goal to raise funds to educate young people about breast cancer and support young survivors.

B4BC’s 11th ANNUAL SKATE THE LAKE RAISES $30K

It’s a wrap on B4BC’s 11th Skate the Lake! We had an amazing weekend in Lake Tahoe filled with tons of fun and an overwhelming amount of love and support and… it was a record breaking year! Our 100 participants raised over $26,000 for Boarding for Breast Cancer’s education, prevention and support programs!

Shane Michael (Hernandez) is a longtime supporter of B4BC and the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Mitten United: a creative design agency who keeps B4BC’s website on point and is always on call for any and all tech or design-related emergencies. Shane and the Mitten United crew have fundraised over $6,000 for B4BC through the Skate the Lake and Skate the Coast series, and have held the “Top Fundraiser” and “Top Fundraising Team” positions multiple times. Oh, and you’ll never catch him without at least two pink B4BC wristbands on at any given time.
