B4BC’s Shred The Love Tour stop at Powder Ridge on Saturday, February 28th 2015 was a huge success! Sº4 Mag hosted the event at the midwest resort in Kimball, MN for the 2nd year in a row. The sun was shining, the temperatures were in the mid-20’s (amazing for frigid Minnesota winters…) and all of the girls were having a blast.
The day was pretty mellow – just the way the midwest likes it. Starting off with registration, smoothies, green tea and protein bars – provided by local restaurants Cowboy Jack’s and the Triple R Grill and Bar, along with Isagenix and Bernick’s beverage distributor.
Up next was a yoga session for everyone, rooted in poses that help with snowboarding – with ladies of all ages participating. Afterwards, everyone went and enjoyed the sunshine while sessioning the “ladies only” park, complete with a kids mini progression park – inspired by Burton Snowboards’ Riglet Park – which included small, ride-on features for anyone as young as a two-year-old to try out!
The competition began in the early afternoon – a classic rail jam style with well-known local DJ Cellphish throwing the best music towards the hill to get everyone pumped. The girls had 30 minutes to hit the four main features as many times as they wanted to. The three judges; Gabi Rolstad, Jeffy Gabrick and Jessie Wade – awarded the riders with 6 different – more creative – award titles, compared to the previous year. The top two “most consistent” riders from each division (beginner and advanced) were awarded with snowboards from Capita and DC – and the other four people that placed were: Best Attitude, Best Style, Most Guts and Best Fall – who received prize packs from one of our many sponsors (including Dakine, Burton, Volcom, Neff, Spy, Ashbury, Holden, Burton Girls and Electric).
We wrapped up the day with the ever-popular raffle from all of our sponsors – including gift cards to the Triple R Grill and Bar in Kimball, MN; the local favorite snow/skate shop The Youth Shelter Supply in St. Cloud, MN; and Powder Ridge themselves. The final, and one of the most anticipated raffles of the day, was a 2015 Burton Deja Vu snowboard, who went to one excited lady. After the raffle, everyone was invited to stay a little longer to watch a screening of the B4BC documentary, ‘Chasing Sunshine’.
“It was just perfect, to see all of these girls come together again in the Midwest for a fun day on the hill, and an amazing cause.” – Jessie Wade
