Last year, about 253,880 women in the US and Canada were diagnosed with breast cancer. One in eight women are expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime, and 1 in 29 are expected to die from it.
In the US, there is a 90.5% five year survival rate, and in Canada it is 87.1%. These numbers can only improve with early detection. Women who are diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer have a 98% five year survival rate, but that number drops to 88% at Stage 2, 49-56% at Stage 3, and 16% at Stage 4.
This is why B4BC has been Shredding the Love since 1996, and why we are expanding our outreach programs to Canada. Educating yourself about early detection, living a healthy, active lifestyle, and being aware of your environmental risks is your best defense against breast cancer.
