(October 7, 2011) B4BC Check One, Two Campus Tour at UC-Berkeley.
We wrapped up a great week of outreach with stop #4 of our campus tour at UC-Berkeley. There’s an incredible energy flowing through Berkeley and knowing the history of the Free Speech Movement and all of the historical student activism that’s taken place here…we were definitely excited to be there!
We kicked off the day by visiting the Alpha Phi Sorority House. This place was incredible and probably should have had it’s own zip code! 65+ ladies live in this house and as they made their way downstairs for brunch, they were encouraged to stop by the living room where we had our educational materials set-up on the coffee table. It was an intimate and perfect environment to get our message out. Before we left we had the ladies hang breast self-exam cards in the 20+ showers throughout the house!
Many thanks to Ariel from Alpha Phi & “Lil Kim” Kirch for inviting us over. 🙂
After we wrapped up with the Alpha Phi ladies we headed to the Volcom store on Telegraph Street to set-up our educational booth. Volcom, “Boobs”, and rock n’ roll…needless to say it was an awesome day!
Thank you Damo and Volcom for providing the space and entertainment—we had a blast and it was a great opportunity to connect with the people of Berkeley.
Cheers,
Blair
P.S. Many thanks to our friend Woozy from TheMahfia.com for coming out to help and for taking all of these incredible photos!
