B4BC is greatly appreciative for the efforts of Gould Academy, high school student, Shelley Bowen for producing a successful educational Board-a-thon on our behalf. Bowen’s co-produced the event on January 21-22, along with help from the USASA Maine Mountains Series and Sunday River, to fulfill her Senior Project. The event ran in conjunction with the USASA series where skiers and boarders competed in slopestyle and halfpipe competitions throughout the weekend. Part of the proceeds from the entry fees of over 100 USASA competitors benefited B4BC. Bowen’s raised additional funds by collecting pledges onsite and off, and by t-shirt, raffle ticket, hat, and wristband sales. Bowen’s was able to raise nearly $3,000 to support B4BC’s efforts and helped us spread breast cancer awareness to hundreds of attendees. Shelley, would like to thank her family, friends, sponsors, USASA of Maine, and Sunday River for helping her accomplish a truly successful event and fulfilling a memorable Senior Project! B4BC would like to extend a sincere thank you to Shelley and all who helped her along the way as well! We’re very proud of her and greatly appreciative for her solidarity and efforts in helping us spread the message of Early Detection + Active Lifestyle = Best Prevention. Many thanks Shelley!
