Just a little Monday reminder that early detection and breast self-exam’s save lives. B4BC supporter Denise Cross stopped by our booth recently to share this message…
“Yippee I am a 5-year breast cancer survivor! I owe B4BC such a big hug because it was at this booth many years ago I learned how to do a breast self-examination! Ladies take care of yourselves and always be in tune with your body!” <3 Denise
Denise visited our educational booth at the US Open over 7 years ago and while there, like she mentioned, learned how to do a breast self-exam (BSE) on our jelly breast molds. (If you’ve ever had the opportunity to feel these molds then you know that they are not only great for demonstrating how to do a BSE, but they also simulate what a cancerous lump might feel like.) A few months later Denise was performing a breast self-exam and felt something very similar to what she had felt in our booth. Luckily she caught it early and now knows first hand the importance of early detection & self-exams. Now every summer Denise stops by our booth at the US Open of Surfing for hugs and to bring friends by to get educated!
