Dew Tour
February 6th-9th, 2020
Last weekend, the B4BC team headed to Copper Mountain, Colorado for Winter Dew Tour. For the fourth year in a row, the Dew Crew has welcomed B4BC with open arms and opportunities to spread our mission and fundraise for our survivorship programs.
We kicked it off on Wednesday night with a silent auction and raffle at the VIP welcome party in 10 Mile Tavern. B4BC showcased hand-painted skateboards from local and national artists. There was even a piece from Dew Tour employee, Dave Cronin, that captured the heart of Winter Dew Tour at Copper and Summer Dew Tour at Long Beach. Partygoers rallied around our fundraising efforts and helped to raise almost $3K that night!
Thursday morning, the official first day was met with much excitement as the weather report called for non-stop snow. It did not disappoint. As flakes grew in size and speed, the event officials quickly made schedule changes and packed as many contests into day one as possible.
That night, the B4BC crew attended the first-ever Snowboarder Magazine Awards to host a raffle and cheer on our girl Jamie Anderson, who won Female Rider of the Year.
During the ceremony, the crowd was inspired as Preston Strout, founder of Crab Grab, shared a personal story of how B4BC helped him find his wife’s lump and how early detection was so important in her journey.
Friday was canceled due to snow and everyone at Dew Tour was blessed with a powder day. No one was complaining!
Saturday was for the girls! After 36 inches of snow, the sun gods shone through for the BT Bounds ride day. Over 50 ladies showed up to take laps with and learn from the BT Bounds crew. After a busy day teaching self-exams in the booth, the girls of B4BC headed over to the female-owned and operated Rockies Bar for an après raffle with the BT Bounds crew. Many new friends were made, and everyone was stoked.
On the final day, we were met with another storm. The women’s slopestyle final turned into a rail jam, and B4BC ambassador Jamie Anderson shut down the contest and brought home the gold. Congrats, Jamie!
We educated hundreds of people over the weekend and raised over $5K towards our education, prevention, and survivorship programs.
Thanks so much, Dew Tour, see you next year!
