Come skate with us! B4BC is stoked to announce the 2008 dates for the 4th Annual Skate the Lake and 2nd Annual Skate the Coast, two longboarding marathons benefiting B4BC. Skate the Lake will be going down in Lake Tahoe, CA on August 22nd- 23rd with Skate the Coast being held the following weekend in Santa Monica, CA on August 29th-30th.
Skate the Lake and Coast are exciting one of a kind longboarding marathons along a 26 mile portion of Lake Tahoe and a 19 mile stretch along the LA County coastline, that attract skaters young and old and of all abilities to share a fun-filled day all in the name of breast cancer education and awareness!
Skate the Lake was created in 2005 by two Tahoe friends, Curt Sterner and Chuck Buckley, whose
mom’s were battling breast cancer. Both frustrated by the toll that the disease was playing on their mothers and families, they decided to take their passion for longboarding and invite their friends to “Skate the Lake” with them to honor their mothers and help raise breast cancer awareness in their community.
Since then Skate the Lake has attracted more than 400 skaters and raised over $15,000 for breast
cancer awareness and education and has plans to make several stops near major cities in 2009.
The growth from year to year has been phenomenal and with last year’s marathons garnering attention
from FUEL TV and RSN, we’re looking to make 2008 a benchmark year for the event and its message by
increasing participation and setting a fundraising goal of $15,000.
