4th of July is this weekend, and we are getting way too excited to celebrate! Between the BBQ’s and booze, this is a holiday notorious for it’s not-so-healthy foods—so we rounded up our favorite healthy options to share with your friends and family! All of these recipes are super delicious and packed with antioxidant-rich berries that help fight off cancer, so you can enjoy your summer treats guilt-free. Doesn’t get much better than that!
FRUIT POPSICLES
Ingredients:
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Water
Directions:
Slice strawberries. Place a mixture of berries into popsicle molds. Pour filtered water into molds and put the top or stick into the mold. Place in freezer and leave until frozen through. Serve.
FRUIT FLAG
Ingredients:
- Strawberries, Sliced
- Bananas, Sliced
- Blueberries
- Wooden Skewers
Directions:
Stick fruit onto wooden skewers in a pattern to make the U.S. flag.
PATRIOTIC PARFAIT
Ingredients:
- Strawberries, quartered
- Blueberries
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
Directions:
Place cut strawberries in wine glasses, or preferred serving dish. Whip heavy cream until peaks form. Drizzle in maple syrup and mix until combined. Spoon whipped cream over strawberries. Top with blueberries. Serve now, or chill until ready to serve.
PATRIOTIC POPSICLES
Ingredients:
- Strawberries, chopped
- Plain or vanilla yogurt
- Water
- Blueberries
- Popsicle sticks
Directions:
Chop strawberries finely. Put 1/2 TBL chopped strawberries in bottom of popsicle mold. Add enough water to barely cover the berries (Just a few drops at a time). Freeze for a minimum of one hour. Spoon out 1/2 TBL plain or vanilla yogurt on top of strawberry layer. Return to freezer for min. of one hour. Repeat steps one and two. Don’t forget the sticks! Fill top of popsicle mold with blueberries. Fill the rest of the mold with water to cover the blueberries. Return to freezer until popsicles are completely frozen.
