Boarding For Breast Cancer will be onsite for educational outreach at the Belvedere Skatepark dedication in East L.A. on Saturday, May 19. Among the participates wil be legendary Z-Boy Tony Alva who will be joining local youth and LA County Superviser Gloria Molina for the festiviites, which will include a skateboarding exhibition, safety lessons, and live music!

WHAT: The second deepest skate bowl in the State will be dedicated in East LA with legendary skateboarder Z-Boy Tony Alva joining local youth and Supervisor Molina for the festivities. Pioneers Alva will also join local youth in a demonstration exhibition to officially dedicate the new state-of-the-art 18,000 square skate park.
Other activities and entertainment includes instructional and safety lessons by skateboarders, demonstrations by professional skateboarders and rock band Upground.

WHO: Supervisor Molina, Legendary skateboarder Tony Alva, Professional Skateboarders Ben Schroder and Ryan Johnson, radio celebrity DJ Julio G from KDAY-FM, 93.5, Super Estrella, FM 107.1, East LA youth, County Parks and Recreation and the East Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club.
WHY/HOW: Molina said, The Belvedere Skate Park is a dream come true for local youth who lobbied County officials after a young skater was struck by a car while skateboarding on the streets of East LA. The youths also participated in the County Department of Parks and Recreation’s skate park design workshops, and skate park construction broke ground in February 2006.
The concrete in-ground skate park facility will include sport lighting, tubular fencing, picnic area, spectator bleachers, landscaping and refurbished restroom building.
