B4BC’S CHASING SUNSHINE WINTER
SURVIVOR RETREATS 2019
Here we are in spring 2019, reflecting on what an incredible winter event season B4BC has had! Our Outreach and Education has been on point and at an all time high. We have partners, volunteers and a kick ass staff to continue to help B4BC achieve our goals, grow and thrive.
We also would like to take moment to throw out some gratitude for the community that shines and shows up in a different kind of way.
Survivorship Community
Like everyone else who supports this organization, the women of our Survivorship Community show up open hearted and while going through their own big feelings, they hold space for other women to do the same. It’s a deeply moving and healing experience for all of us involved.
B4BC has the pleasure of fundraising for these women who have dealt with and/or are continuing to manage a breast cancer diagnosis. Megan Pischke, B4BC’s Marketing and Wellness Manager, has the honor of coordinating and managing these retreats for these women. Along with the incredibly talented healers and facilitators we have sought out, our industry partners and individual donors are also a huge part of how we are able to give back to these women who have dealt with so much. All the funding gives B4BC the room to grow these weekend events to continue to create healthy outdoor experiences with lifelong connections to new friends.
This year during our application process for Aspen – Snowmass, we had an overwhelming amount of applications. Over 45 women had applied for the 10 available spaces for this Colorado Wellness Retreat. More than ever B4BC understand the need for these gatherings. We all rallied together and several last-minute sponsors had stepped in to assist in creating a second winter retreat in Grand Targhee, Wyoming. It’s the first time in our 14-year retreat history for TWO winter retreats!

A pretty interesting pattern that is continuing to happen at these events is: DUMPING SNOW! Over a 3 year period, we have had 4 consecutive winter retreats with huge storms. Snowmass in March and Grand Targhee in April were no exception, with both locations receiving over 18 inches of snow respectively during our visit. You know what they say about a lot of powder; soft landings!
Retreat Necessities
SNOWMASS RESORT /THE LIMELIGHT SNOWMASS, CO
In Snowmass, Dr. Jennifer Vitaro joined us with her Integrative Medical approach and ideas around women’s health and journeys back to wellness. Dawn Horn who specializes in vibrational energy medicine, reiki and reflexology shared her work as well as working directly on several of our attendees.
We had a new sponsor come in this winter to assist with our meals and provide us with an online grocer, Thrive Market! We are excited to share more as we move forward in this partnership! This opportunity allows us to provide organic and affordable options for our meal planning, all delivered to our doorstep at the retreats.
One of our returning Colorado therapists Emily Hightower shared her Integrative breathwork during meditation and yoga. She also happens to be a nutritionist! Emily was able to assist Megan in preparing meals each evening and discussing the nutritional value of the food we were eating.
GRAND TARGHEE RESORT, WY
Grand Targhee was beautiful and we were lucky enough to see a lot of wildlife during our visit. It actually felt like we were all alone in this special little corner of the Tetons. Local Jackson Doctor of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Angela Tong, shared yoga therapy sessions as well as provide invaluable information regarding how her clients managing cancer are treated. She also provided an overall glance on women’s health during and after cancer from a Chinese Medicine perspective.
Also joining us was the lovely massage therapist Charmaine Strattman who has a keen mind for CBD and also yoga therapy. She not only was able to flow with us on our mats, she guided us through ideas and thoughts surrounding CBD.
All in all, the one word that sums up each and all of these Wellness Retreat experiences would be: GRATITUDE.
If it wasn’t for these destination resort locations that open up their arms to us, these retreats wouldn’t be as exciting! It if it wasn’t for our donors and sponsors, we wouldn’t be as generous. If it wasn’t for our team collectively workings towards these events, we wouldn’t be as organized. If it wasn’t for the women who show up, share and love hard, we wouldn’t BE. Perspective is everything, and we thank all of you amazing ladies!
Community makes the world a smaller place with bigger hearts.
Thank you from all of us here at B4BC, and especially myself Megan Pischke. Stay tuned for fall 2019 Chasing Sunshine Wellness Retreats: (here: live link to Survivorship dropdown menu)
