Last week we wrapped up our 6th Annual Check One, Two Campus tour, whereas our educational outreach booth hit the road for the month of October posting up on college campuses up and down the California coast. We partnered with campus health & wellness departments and student clubs to educate people about early detection and prevention.
Each stop brought hundreds of students to our booth to get educated and to join our prevention pledge movement, which encourages students to be their own advocate by pledging to make positive & healthy lifestyle changes to help reduce their cancer risk.
A few highlights and a new addition to the tour this year was the 3K fun run that the CSULA Associated Students put together. Over 500 students & faculty came out to be healthy, get active and run with us for the cause. In addition to the run and incredible outreach, the event fundraised nearly $4,500 for our education & support programs!
We were also stoked to team up with Stanford Rec during the Pac-12 Recreation Challenge this year, which is a conference-wide initiative that promotes an active, healthy lifestyle. Stanford ended up winning their 6th Pac-12 Rec Challenge with over 538,000 minutes of exercise from their students & staff that week. Well-done Cardinals!
