Boarding for Breast Cancer’s 11th Annual Skate the Coast presented by Suja Juice was certainly one to go down in history! We’re happy to announce that this was by far our most successful skate to date! With the help from our sponsors, supporters, fundraisers and skaters who rolled 19 miles from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach, B4BC was able to collectively raise an incredible $49K towards our education, prevention and survivorship programs! A HUGE thank you to all who made this possible.

Friday night we joined our friends at Arbor Venice for an epic kick-off bash. Participants joined us to register, receive goodie bags and meet some of the people they’d be rolling with the following morning. Traeger Grills supplied delicious Kings Hawaiian pulled pork and mushroom sandwiches for the party, we jammed out to a live musical set from Beeb$ + Dan Kelly of Fortunate Youth, and sipped yummy beverages from Suja organic cold pressed juices and 10 Barrel Brew. After the music attendees took part in TWO epic raffles and had an exclusive viewing of Melodrama snowboard film.
The party was a huge success and raised over $6K in itself!

The stoke was high Saturday morning as skaters lined up to board the shuttle to the start in Santa Monica. Over 115 people ages 4-72 came out ready to hit the 19 mile route. Along the way, rollers were greeted at 4 hydration stations by Suja who was handing out refreshingly cold juices and kombuchas and snacks from Kind Bar. The energy was all time at each stop with new and old friends sharing stories and high fives! Thanks to Soundboks for providing the tunes all day long and to GoPro who helped us capture all the fun on camera!!!

After about 4.5 hours of pushing and peddling, participants started flooding into the finish line at Dive n Surf in Redondo Beach where they were cheered on by two LA Rams Cheerleaders! Thanks to some AMAZING volunteers, relaxation vibes were set when everyone came in. Beyond Meat and El Pollo Loco generously donated delicious food . Our Bff’s at Suja continued to hand out organic cold pressed juice and there were plenty of celebratory 10 Barrel Brews to go around.

So many laughs, hugs and tears were shared as the award ceremony went on. We heard from two young breast cancer survivors who both shared stories of their experiences at our Chasing Sunshine retreats. And an emotional tribute to our dear friend Michelle Zwirn was led by her father Dan Zwirn and B4BC Founder Lisa Hudson.
