We’re still nostalgic over the final stop of B4BC’s Shred the Love Winter Series where we returned to where B4BC was born, beautiful Lake Tahoe. Over 8 days, eight events took place on and off the mountain from Truckee to Norden, Calif., introducing young faces to Boarding for Breast Cancer and welcoming those that have supported B4BC since Day One. Families, friends, Pro Athletes and the industry came together to celebrate in epic weather conditions. Close to $6,000 was raised, making for the perfect ending to the four-month series.
The B4BC Crew arrived on Friday to prep for the long run, get in a few runs, and meet with the Sugar Bowl Resort team. Mother Nature generously offered up fresh snowfall in the afternoon before we set out to Woodward Tahoe to tour their jaw-dropping, amazing action sports training facility. The night ended with bluegrassy punk rock jams by Actors Killed Lincoln at Truckee’s Pastime Club, with ticket & raffle proceeds benefiting B4BC.

Saturday, we were up with the sun for a B4BC Yoga Heals session hosted by Yoga Studio Tahoe.

From there, we were happy to join our friends from Mahfia TV, Woodward Tahoe, Silly Girl Skateboards, Armada, and POW Gloves in the Festival Village at Sugar Bowl’s Judah Lodge. Local businesses Bella Bucha Kombucha and New Moon provided healthy beverages and snacks, while Urban Angels kept it fresh with free cuts and pink coloring. BodyTherms was also on-site sharing information about breast health awareness and thermography in complement to B4BC’s Check One, Two educational outreach booth.
Fans were excited for B4BC Co-founder and Snowboarding Pioneer Tina Basich’s arrival, who brought her family and friends out to join in the fun.

The annual B4BC Sugar Bowl Rail Jam had 25 riders, including proskateboarder Julz Lynn. Colored by bluebird skies, pink tutus, mixedtapes by DJ Johnny Varsity and impromptu dance-offs, this year’s comp was by far the best one yet!
To top it all off, fundraisers took it next level by raising nearly $4,000 for B4BC’s breast cancer education and prevention programs. Top (3) fundraisers honors were presented to (1) Sarah Fortino – $710; (2) Ruth Fortino – $660; and (3) JoAnne Fortino – $650 just edging out Sara Brogden. The Fortino family received special recognition for collectively raising over $2,000 this year. The awards presentation was a tearful, heartfelt reading of Tribute Ride names to honor loved ones affected by breast cancer.
