K2 BUMPS CHALLENGE
The first event is a fun and challenging skiing competition during which teams win prizes and raise money based on the number of times they’re able to ski Al’s Run – one of Taos Ski Valley’s most famous and popular mogul runs on the face of the mountain – in the allotted time frame. Teams will be composed of up to four skiers/snowboarders of any age or gender and will raise funds through their sponsors who will pledge a dollar amount for each time the team collectively completes the run. PAINT FOR PEAKS: SNOWBOARD ART AUCTION
After the on-mountain Bumps Challenge, team skiers, their supporters, visitors and other members of the community will join K2, Taos Ski Valley, and B4BC representatives in the Martini Tree Bar for the awards ceremony and an unrivaled art exhibit. Entering its third year of success, Taos Ski Valley and Studio Karina will once again host Paint for Peaks: Snowboard Art Auction featuring custom, one-of-a-kind painted snowboards created by renowned local and regional artists. All proceeds from the art sale will go to B4BC and the Anita Salas Memorial Fund. K2 has donated the skis and snowboards that will serve as the canvases and notable artists including Randall La Gro, Jonathan Sobol, and Erin Currier have committed to creating a work of art.
“Adding the K2 Bumps Challenge as a daytime event before the Paint for Peaks auction ensures there’s something for everyone, whether they prefer Taos for the skiing, the arts scene or both,” said Adriana Blake, administrative manager of Taos Ski Valley. “We hope that by partnering with K2, we’ll attract all types of teams and visitors so we can exceed our fundraising goals to help local women afflicted with breast cancer. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day or a better cause to support.”
