Redondo Beach, Calif. (June 18, 2012) – B4BC is furthering its commitment to breast cancer support programs with the growth of the B4BC Survivorship Fund, launch of B4BC Yoga Heals and by aligning with partners that demonstrate the same dedication.
Thanks to the generous support of The North Face, B4BC will be hosting the first ever Ocean ReTreat Yourself event, alongside The North Face athlete and B4BC Wellness Ambassador Megan Pischke. The weekend long retreat takes place September 14-16 in Encinitas, Calif and will provide breast cancer survivors with complementary care and support through yoga, surfing, guided meditation, massage, life-skills coaching and group activities with other survivors. This will be one of many ReTreats slated for 2012-2013, following a positive response to the Mountain ReTreats that have taken place for the past 3 years. B4BC is now accepting nominations for those interested in attending this summer.
“These retreats are created to offer an opportunity for women to reconnect with themselves in a safe, comfortable and natural environment. Those who have attended in previous years have walked away rejuvenated,” said Megan Pischke, B4BC Wellness Ambassador and The North Face Athlete. “By offering a holistic experience to breast cancer survivors and their loved ones, our intent is to inspire healthful, loving habits while allowing time to just be.”
A portion of the B4BC royalties from the 2010-2011 sale of The North Face Pink Ribbon line of products are being allocated to the Survivorship Fund and Climb Against the Odds.
B4BC has also extended a grant of $25,000 to the Breast Cancer Fund and participants of the 2012 Climb Against the Odds in support of their ascent of Mt. Shasta, Calif. on June 17-23. Funding allows for the group of 27 breast cancer survivors and those affected by the disease to be outfitted with gear from The North Face. The Climb represents both a personal endeavor to honor the courage it takes to face breast cancer and a show of solidarity towards stopping the disease before it starts.
“We are thrilled to support the Breast Cancer Fund and the Survivor community as part of our unyielding commitment towards advocating for prevention,” said Erika Seward, executive director, B4BC. “We cannot thank enough our partner The North Face, Megs Pischke and local leaders who truly enable us to give back to those that inspire us all daily.”

There are over 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. alone. B4BC recognizes the need to expand these programs nationwide and is actively seeking like-minded partners and those interested in hosting community fundraising events, including the newly launched B4BC Yoga Heals, which provides a philanthropic platform for wellness.
