B4BC’s 2020 SHRED THE LOVE WINTER SERIES
Boarding for Breast Cancer announces its Winter Series of Fundraising and Prevention Events

B4BC is excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of #ShredTheLove! A grassroots event series that aims to raise funds for and awareness around the organization’s education, prevention, and thriver support programs while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle – all during a fun-filled day on the mountain. This year, B4BC has partnered with the following resorts from January through April, to present the 2020 Shred the Love Winter Series of 8 events:

B4BC’s Shred the Love Series, which was founded to provide a nationwide platform for friends, fun & fundraising – inspired by the love of snowboarding and a passion around the education and prevention of breast cancer among young people. Ten years later, the event series continues to thrive through its customizable format, where mountain partners are encouraged to build their own experience with their local community. A mix of rail jams, board-a-thons, banked slaloms, and more, including the signature B4BC Tribute Ride, where people can dedicate their participation in the ride to a loved one who has battled (breast) cancer, and post their name on a Tribute Board. Other activations during Shred the Love weekends may include evening or early morning yoga sessions, art and silent auction fundraisers with wine and chocolate tastings, live music, and sponsor villages with product sampling and demos, raffles, and prizing.
NEW this year: The B4BC Pink Poker Run, an all ages and abilities fun and interactive way to explore the mountain and support the cause. During a 2 to 3-hour period, participants visit various checkpoints around the resort to collect pink playing cards. The people with the three best poker hands at the end of the run will win prizes from the event sponsors. Participants are encouraged to wear their best pink costume, as “bonus cards” are awarded for best pink spirit and attitude.
The B4BC Educational tent can be found at every event and fulfills a big part of the foundation’s mission with team members providing peer-to-peer communication and educational materials on how to reduce the risk for breast cancer. Attendees can learn how to perform a breast self-exam with a hands-on opportunity to experience what a potentially cancerous lump feels like through the use of life-like jelly breast molds. Providing this experience to young people is a cornerstone of B4BC’s Educational outreach.
The fundraising aspect of Shred the Love events help insure the continuation of a year round B4BC Educational outreach booth, bringing the unique educational approach to school campuses, action sports and youth lifestyle events nationwide. Where each year, over 100,000+ individuals are reached.
As a repeat title sponsor, Shred the Love is presented by SUJA Organic – who will be sampling their cold pressed juice on-site at select events.
