Sonora Alba, known to her family and friends as “Sonny,” calls San Pedro, CA, home. Although a Southern California native, Sonny has been immersed in the snowboarding world and culture since the age of three. Following in her father’s footsteps, Sonny developed a passion for all board sports. She began snowboarding at Bear Mountain, joined the Mammoth Snowboard Team at eight, and by thirteen, she was selected for the U.S. Pro Halfpipe Team.
Sonny’s love for snowboarding is all-encompassing. She loves the stoke it brings, as well as the strength it has instilled in her as an athlete, a woman, and a role model. She resists being labeled solely as a “pipe rider” thanks to her training with the Mammoth Team, which emphasized becoming an all-mountain rider. Sonny enjoys participating in slopestyle, street, and free mountain riding, and proudly identifies herself simply as a “snowboarder.”
WHY B4BC: “I am thrilled and honored to join B4BC! I look forward to supporting an organization that empowers women and promotes self-awareness through healthy and active lifestyle choices. Having witnessed my own grandmother’s battle and survival of breast cancer, I feel especially privileged to be an ambassador for B4BC. I am committed to spreading their message through education, awareness, and celebration.”
