SUMMER SKATE SERIES
About
Our Summer Skate Series began back in 2004 with the inaugural Skate the Lake in Lake Tahoe, CA. Supporters of B4BC gathered to skateboard, bike, and roller-skate along the Truckee River. A few years later, B4BC brought the event closer to home and introduced Skate the Coast in Los Angeles, CA. These two events have become staples in B4BC’s fundraising and wellness-promotion programs.
Skate the Lake | Lake Tahoe, CA
Skate the Lake in Lake Tahoe covers 28 miles along North Lake Tahoe, beginning at Sugar Pine Point and ending at Commons Beach. Participants can skateboard, bike, or roller-skate the route as part of a collective push to promote a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means to cancer prevention while fundraising for B4BC’s education and survivorship programs. It is a two-day event, with a kick-off party the first evening that includes live music, auctions, and raffles. The next morning, participants gather at the start-line for their 28-mile journey. Recently introduced is an option to drop in at Palisades Tahoe Village to meet the group and jam out the last seven miles of the route. At the finish line, we join for food and beverages from our sponsors, live music, prizes, and awards to the top fundraisers! Over the years, more than 2,800 people have gathered for event and, in conjunction with Skate the Coast, we have raised upwards of $1,000,000 for breast cancer education, prevention, and survivor support.
Skate the Coast | Los Angeles, CA
Skate the Coast takes participants down a 19-mile route along the beautiful California coastline starting at the Santa Monica Pier and ending in Redondo Beach. This event is similar to Skate the Lake with a registration pre-party in Redondo Beach with live music, raffles, auctions, and sponsored beverages. Riders meet the next morning for the main event, while those looking for a smaller commitment can drop in at Dockweiler State Beach to join for the last leg of the route. Awards, food, prizes, and more will greet participants at our finish line at Dive N Surf!
