The 3rd Annual Skate the Lake benefiting Boarding For Breast Cancer will take place on Saturday, September 29th in Lake Tahoe! Additionally, the fine creators of the event have brought the longboarding relay to the Coast. On Saturday, October 6th, concrete longboarders are invited to skate from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach to support the cause.
Skate the Lake is a 26 mile longboard skateboard relay with skaters of all ability levels getting together and shredding the bike path to increase breast cancer awareness. Mainly longboards are the standard, but shorties, or any and all participation is encouraged (including bike riding, walking, volunteering or simply cheering on the participants). The days activities include the skate, live music, and education provided by B4BC’s educational booth.
Skate the Lake was created in 2005 by two Tahoe friends Chuck Vogt and Curt Sterner. Both Chuck and Curt’s mom’s were battling battle breast cancer and they wanted to do something to voice their frustrations. Thus Chuck and Curt decided to combine their passion for longboarding and music and created Skate the Lake to honor their mothers and help raise breast cancer awareness in their community!
