KIMMY FASANI ON WHY YOU SHOULD TRY ROCK CLIMBING (AND HOW TO GET STARTED)

Spending time in the mountains year-round and staying in shape are essential parts of my life. Now that I’m back from filming my part with Absinthe Films in Haines, Alaska—safe and healthy!—I’m getting back into my off-season activities, like biking, triathlons, and rock climbing. Rock climbing, in particular, has become a crucial element of my season. In Alaska, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the massive mountains and steep terrain, but when I arrived there this season I felt way more comfortable than I had expected. I credit this to all the time I spent rock climbing over the past few years.

MALIA MANUEL, INSPIRING SURFER | GAME OF LIFE

If you’re already suffering from post-Labor Day beach withdrawals, this video of pro surfer Malia Manuel might help — and inspire you in the process. Born and raised in Hawaii’s surfer paradise, she’s been shredding the islands’ crystalline waves since childhood, gliding her way to the U.S. Open of Surfing championship title at just 14, making her the youngest person to ever achieve that honor.

B4BC at the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro

B4BC rocked an amazing educational outreach booth July 22-24, 2016, teaching people the value of living a healthy and active lifestyle, and sharing important information about breast self exams at the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro as thousands of people descended on Oceanside, CA, to experience the largest women’s surf competition in the world. It was a beautiful three days on the beach, with hundreds of people stopping by our colorful booth. Fortunately, we were also located right across from the skateboard ramp where young girls were ripping it in the half pipe, and legends like Carabeth Burnside and Mimi Knoop watched with awe at the new levels of female skateboarding capabilities.

CANCER FIGHTING FOODS // Megan Pischke’s Super Booster Salmon + Kale Soup

I love soups. I love Salmon. These days there seems to be more and more information regarding how amazing salmon is for your body. And lucky me, I live in the North West, and my family and I often enjoy this fish fresh. Salmon contains potent omega-3 fatty acids called eicosapentaenoic acids and docosahexaenoic acids. Yeah, fun words, but even more fun that they are so proficient at getting rid of inflammation. I was taught to only combine animal protein soups with non-starchy veggies, ocean veggies, and raw salads. This is a quick and easy recipe to share with someone you love.
