For the second year in a row, Shaun White’s Air + Style brought snow to the city! We had an amazing weekend onsite at Expo Park in Los Angeles where over 40,000 snow enthusiasts and music lovers converged for a weekend of festivities. B4BC was smack in the middle of the action, spreading the word about early detection and prevention.
LA is the third and final stop of the Air + Style series across the globe. The top 24 men in big air snowboarding are invited to showcase their amazing skills on a 16-story ramp. This particular ramp just so happened to overlook the LA skyline and all of downtown Los Angeles. There was definitely no lack of excitement at Expo Park as festival-goers were treated to some of the most insane tricks in the world. A huge congratulations to Japanese snowboarder Yuki Kadono who won his second straight Air + Style LA title. Other top finishers included Kyle Mack (USA), Roope Tonteri(FIN), and Sven Thorgren(SWE) who took the overall Air + Style 2016 title. We’re also sending well wishes and a quick recovery to competitor Mark McMorris who was injured on day 2 of the contest.
Not only were guests treated to some of the best snowboarding in the world, they also got to enjoy music from genres across the board. The days were filled with acts including HAIM, Travis Barker, Kaskade, A-Trak, The Struts, Big Grams, and tons of other talented artists and headliners J. Cole and Incubus rounded out the nights.
B4BC Basecamp was featured in the festival village for a second year in a row. Air + Style attendees could come get educated and learn about the importance of early detection and prevention. Basecamp visitors had the chance to feel jelly breast molds in order to learn what a potentially cancerous lump might feel like and find out exactly why self exams are so important. In addition, everyone was invited to learn how to upcycle old t-shirts to create super cute festival headbands. We love reusing materials we already have in order to create something new and beautiful!
To celebrate B4BC’s 20th anniversary we brought a very special art exhibit to life at Air + Style. 5 beautiful snowboards from the B4BC x GNU collection over the years were featured, as well as 10 iconic shots from B4BC’s past. Thank you to our friends at Plywerk for providing us with the rad wood prints for our booth. Thank you to Air + Style for inviting us to be a part of this awesome event and our amazing volunteers Maggie, Andrea, and Roxanne. We can’t wait until next year!
